You'll find answers to some common questions we get about the 5:2 Vitality System below.
Do I need to count calories?
No. On Light Days the three Radix products define your intake; on Foundation Days you eat to your appetite around them. The structure removes the need to count.
What if I'm strength training?
Strongly compatible. The protein-centred approach is designed to support muscle maintenance during weight loss. Schedule sessions on Foundation days and use your protein powder and smoothie sachets around your training.
What about perimenopause or menopause?
Well suited. The protein-centred approach directly addressed the increased muscle-maintenance challenge of hormonal change. Use your protein powder sachets every Foundation Day.
Can I exercise on Light Days?
Yes, but be mindful of intensity. You may not feel as energetic and high intensity exercise may be more challenging. Light exercise is entirely appropriate. Consider scheduling your higher intensity workouts on your Foundation Days.
Can I have milk in coffee on Light Days?
A splash of milk in one or two coffees or cups of tea is unlikely to meaningfully impact your caloric intake on Light Days. Avoid large volumes of milk or milk-based drinks (such as a cappucino or chai latte) which add significant calories.
Can I do more than two Light Days?
Not recommended. This increases the risk of muscle loss, reduces the recovery that the Foundation Days provide, and makes the system harder to sustain. Two well-executed Light Days is the optimal approach.
Do I use the protein powder every day?
The recommended approach is one sachet per each Foundation Day. If you miss a day, you don't need to double up, just continue as normal.
What if I'm not losing weight?
First, check consistency and execution. Did you complete both Light Days and are your Foundation Days reasonably well structured? If so, give the system the full 28 days.
